US Stock Markets Witness Correction as Oil Reaches its Record High


Investors were uncertain on Friday as crude oil futures settled at $122.79 per barrel at New York Mercantile Exchange on Friday, which happens to be its highest since September, 2008. Worries escalated as the investors were also closely monitoring the talks between Republicans and Democrats to reach a budget agreement.

Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 0.2 percent to close at 12,380.05 for the day. Standard and Poor’s 500 index also dropped 0.4 percent to 1,328.17 while NASDAQ composite slipped 0.6 percent to 2,780.42 on Friday. Overall trading volume at NYSE stood at 3.7 billion shares for the day.

Among the major losers Delta Air Lines Inc plunged 3.9 percent for the day while United Parcel Service Inc declined 1 percent in yesterday’s trading session.
